Decent selection of yarns for a variety of projects. As the notes above state, the goods are Organic. I expected more sticker shock than I actually experienced. The prices weren't really any higher than average yarn boutiques and most of the brands were quite familiar.

Very nice store, the best one (of a whopping two) in Vancouver. Bright with a good layout and lots of fine yarn to choose from. To correct the previous review, it's not all organic though some is. The owner is very knowledgeable and ready to help. I think she's even published patters so she knows what she's talking about. If you are in the Portland area, you should stop by.

Small selection of yarn. Carries some of the same brands as LYS a few blocks away (i.e., O-Wool) at a higher price. Small selection of books and patterns. Customer service is minimal. Have been in store three times and all three times the owner/employee(?) otherwise occupied and gave the cursory "let me know if you need any help."

I disagree with the anonymous post on 7/25/08. The owner is very friendly and always available to help. I understand if she's with a customer and she will get to me. She has special ordered yarn for me. There is a ton of yarn at this shop, not to mention the great fabric selection and I can see what I'm looking at. The other LYS in town is very dark with spotty selection

This is a wonderful shop with a very friendly and knowledgeable owner. It's light and airy with a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. I found yarn, fabric, and ribbon I couldn't live without. (Ok, I could've, but didn't want to.) Now I don't have to go across the river whenever I need a little yarn fix. Yay!

I AGREE with the post on 7/25/08 plus the smell of paint was so overwhelming I could only stay a few minutes. The person working was occupied with the computer and gave an unfriendly greeting, but no other communications. No other customers were present. Minimal selection of sock yarn.

I disagree with the post from 8/1/08. I think the place smells wonderful; New, full of yarn and great fabrics with exciting classes. I really cannot imagine why you are so critical except that there were a few local people upset when yarn shop number two opened. I think these posts are just spiteful and not really a reflection of the shop and its owner, who is a very sweet woman. Your posts are just trying to bad mouth a great shop.

Just visited for the first time yesterday. This is really a cool shop. It's one-stop shopping for great fabrics, patterns, yarns and embroidery. The store was busy with customers, but the girl working was very attentive and helpful. The pricing on the yarns was less than Portland. I got Shepherd yarn for a sweater for $60 and Joel Dewberry fabric that I couldn't live without. I highly recommend a visit.

I am so glad that a LYS like this has come Vancouver! Now I don't have to go into Portland to get nice yarn at a reasonable price. The owner is very friendly and helpful, and VERY knowledgeable and up-to-date with trends. I love the focus on local, organic and ethically produced products wherever possible. Also it is nice and bright and clean.
To those who say that the only greeting they have been given is "let me know if you need help" I have also heard some say that they don't like being overly greeted in a LYS, they just like to know that there is help if needed, so maybe that is what she is doing?
I am really glad this shop is here and will be making it a regular stop!

I absolutely love this store. The owner is very, very friendly. I totally disagree with the two previous negative posts. This store absolutely does not smell like paint. I have bad allergies and if that was the case, I would not be in there all the time. The yarn is very, very reasonably priced with a good selection. I think people should just be grateful there are two great shops to shop at in Vancouver. Variety is the spice of life. Knitting, crochet, apinning, fabric, and all fiber arts should for promoting and enticing people to come back to doing beautiful handcrafts, which has become sorely lacking in our schools, to promote a less material world than we live in now, and to find pleasure in simpler times and making handmade things as a way of relaxion, productivity, and a real feeling of pride, accomplishment, satisfaction, and self-awareness. That is what fiber arts are all about. Negative comments based on a personal agenda and just plain snarkiness puts a bad name of fiber arts. I shop both stores and am very glad they're here.

That word should have been spinning, not apinning =0)

I think all the anonymous posts are between the new and old yarn shop. Grow up.

I love stitchcraft. It's the only store in Vancouver where I feel welcomed. The light bright colors and great lighting actually let you view the selection you're looking at. I feel that for a LYS she has a great selection for a new store. Paint is to be expected when a new business first opens, it's called ATMOSPHERE! The smell of paint goes away with time, duh!
I really enjoy the Thursday night knitting Soiree's (free). Help is available if needed. Inspiration on each set of needles, great conversations, caring people and tons of fun. I feel her pricing is spot on and love her selection of patterns. I look forward to more in the future.
The shop owner has always been really nice, helpful and willing to do what she can to make sure your satisfied. I agree with Carol (Fibermaniac) when stating what the true nature of crafting is about.

Now that the Thursday night knitting soiree has been cancelled I am not as excited about this LYS as I was. I have experienced some of what people speak of but really liked the soiree and it made it worthwhile. The yarn is good.

THE SHOP DOES NOT SMELL LIKE PAINT.
I love that there is not only yarn sold here, but gorgeous fabrics (Joel Dewberry, Amy Butler, and the like) and notions sold here. Stitchcraft also carried embroidery floss and cute patterns.
The owner is very helpful, and tries to accommodate all customers that enter the shop in due time. She is very sincere and listens well to help you choose yarn or fabrics.
I also enjoy the neighboring yarn shop. People need to chill out and appreciate ALL that Uptown Village has to offer. If you prefer one shop over another, that doesn't mean you have to badmouth another business. Remember your manners.
