One of my very favorite yarn shops ever!!! Their selection is unmatched, the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The only downside to this shop is the distance from my house.

My husband was looking for knitpicks circular knitting needles. The associate "duped" him into getting another brand. I tried to return them to the store and they refused. They said they would issue store credit. I told them I did not need store credit becuase I could not purchase what I wanted here. They manager was very rude and I would NOT recommend shopping here.

The best Yarn shop in Louisville! Great selection, lots of help with your projects, crochet friendly too!
Anonymous-Sorry to hear your husband picked out the wrong needles but most yarn shops won't take back needles or patterns. Why didn't you use the credit towards yarn?

Sophie's IS the best yarn shop! I've always been treated very well there. To the lady who received the wrong needles...I know for a fact the owner went out of her way to please you and she was NOT rude at all. After you received your refund from your CC Co., why did you not return the needles to the store?? You still have them! Seems to me, you are the one who is rude!

I can see how this has been seen as a typcial Louisville clique shop. I came to visit after christmas for the sale and I had one very nice assistant and one very "snotty"; but assistant. I know Louisville is very cliquish; but it is bad. I finally found yarn I liked and AFTER I paid then could afford to spend time to teach me to wind it. I have never had to wind my own yarn; but, at least the one lady was nice enough to teache me! They had a GREAT selection; but service was typcical Louisville snotty pride. (and I am a card fan!).

I was in Sophie's back in the early fall and was treated very kindly and graciously. I lingered around the shop for almost an hour and never felt rushed, or like I was being watched (which I have experienced in other stores). I live several hours away and this was my one and only visit, but I'd definitely go back the next time my travels took me to Louisville with some time on my hands.

Stopped here while on vacation. Wonderful yarn (and color) selection. The store had wonderful lighting and was easy to move around in. It had one of the largest and best displayed selections of needles/notions I had ever seen. If I am ever back in the area I will make time to stop again.

I've been there a couple of times & had no problems. The ladies who were there were friendly, attentive if I needed them & even talked with my poor husband who sat on their couch for over an hour while I checked out all their wonderful yarns.

I learned that Sophie's existed about a year ago and have been a pretty regular visitor since. Their selection is fabulous; the classes they offer are many and diverse; and I have found them to be extremely welcoming. I've tried to figure out who it is that people are perceiving as rude, but I can't. Everyone there has gone out of their way to be nice, helpful and welcoming to me. I love it there!

I've visited Sophie's on occasion, I'm a weaver and spinner, crocheted for years, new to knitting. I have mixed opinions on the friendliness of the staff - from abrupt and rude (backed away from me when I mentioned I was a weaver looking for something different - ) to the one that follows you to every skein you pick up like Peter Pan's shadow.
the selection is nice, and if you need several skeins of the same thing, she has it. I have recommended people drive over and at least check them out before heading to other areas in the state for yarns.

After reading these reviews I'm headed to Cincinnati rather than deal with these freaks!

I love it at Sophies! They are awesome at helping you with your projects....I have never experienced anyone being rude....I think sometimes if you look for something you will find it. Perhaps someone had a pre-developed opinion.
