Parking is horrible, staff is "too" friendly and prices are high. Browsing is discouraged.

It's Pasadena, parking is horrible where ever you go, but I do agree that the service here is a bit too pushy. I don't like it when someone tries to sell me on everything skein I touch.

I hate the sterile atmosphere. I don't like the silence or the glaring florescent lights. It's awkward when I can hear tummy rumbling that are not my own.

The price is a little high, but it's due to the location. Rent is high in that city.

I come here from time to time because it's the closest yarn store to me (walking distance). Though, I usually make the effort to go to Abuelita's in South Pasadena instead.

I agree with Heterotopia, in that the prices seem to fit the location, and the silence is definitely awkward. There's something about the staff and the atmosphere that seems to tell you to get what you came for and leave quickly so that you're not bothering the staff/owners. Very odd. In regards to pushiness, I seem to experience the opposite: distant, sometimes surly staff.

I agree that parking is horrible. Non-existent parking lot so mostly you park on the street. Like Heterotopia, I am walking distance so it isn't that bad. It really is a horrible location. The selection is ok but I agree with the others about the atmosphere. It leaves a lot to be desired. Very quiet and the staff is pushy, pushy. If I want suggestions, I will ask. I only go there if I am desperate.

Skein carries some very nice yarns, almost all prices are higher than full retail, book selection is minimal. I prefer Unraveled in Monrovia, which is several miles further from me but has a great helpful staff and excellent classes -- a beautiful and comfortable store with a terrific selection of yarns -- sorry, Skein...
