Great shop - one of my favorite places to hang out. Patricia tries to make everyone feel welcome and goes out of her way to help her customers. She leads great classes too!

I visited Patricia's last year when I came to stay with my niece in Hoboken. I loved that she carried yarns I couldn't find at home (metro Detroit). I'll be back!

the store is too small. owner has limited selections, not enough choices.i have taken lessons here and have found others comments to be true.patricia is very flat and doesn't have enthusiasm for her store/classes.one of her classes she had a friend teaching!!!she lacked patience for those who were not quick to pick up-we need another store in hoboken.disatisfied customer.

I live in Hoboken and LOVE Patricia's! She carries such a great variety of yarns (Lornas! Malabrigo! Rowan! swoon!) and is so welcoming. I couldn't disagree with the above comment more! I took her beginners class and had a wonderful experience. I feel so lucky to be right in her neighborhood! Everyone in the NY metro area should def check her out!

I have been a customer at Patricia's Yarns for 3 years. I took my first class when she was in the basement on 7th Street and I was treated with kind words and a gentle personality by the owner, Patricia, from the moment I entered. I totally disagree with "anonymous" on Saturday, 10/18/08. It is true that Margaux also teaches classes there, but I would trust Margaux's expertise in knitting as well as Patricia's - just check out her website (link in Patricia's Yarns store website). I have been in the shop when it is full of two baby carraiges, plenty of customers, and the phone ringing. Patricia is NEVER as rude as the "anonymous" poster and I wonder why he/she is "anonymous"?? Her yarn selection is by far the best in the area and I think everyone should stop in and form their own opinion. You will NOT be a "dissatisfied" (her spelling wrong) customer - I PROMISE!

I have actually been in the shop when Patricia was giving a private lesson to a young girl (approximately 10 years old) who wasn't easy to teach and found her to have the patience of Job. I have also been in the shop when Margaux was teaching a beginners class and found Margaux to be extremely patient and encouraging to new learners. I think her shop is warm, inviting, and full of beautiful yarn, finished items for ideas, books, and magazines. Patricia is not flat and is quite honestly a lovely woman who enjoys her customers, their knitting, and their lives. It is very "homey."

I didn't like this store at all.
Let me first say that I am not a snoot from Hoboken so I guess its not really geared towards me. The space is way to small and they had a very limited section of yarn. 2 colors of cascade. are you kidding me? white and brown? thats it?
they had a little cafe table in there (which took up too much space that they already didn't have) with a few people sitting around it, the owner was (or the woman I assumed was the owner) was sitting in the back. one of the women at the table said hello to me when I walked in but it took the owner almost 10 min. to acknowledge me and I know she saw me, that place is to small to not to know every living thing that was filling it. She stood around (about 3 feet away from me) talking to the people at the table for quite a while before she said 'you can interrupt me anytime you want if you have any questions'
Interrupt? am I bothering you?
Then another woman came in and everyone said hi to her (i'm assuming she was a regular) she told the owner that she was going on vacation and needed help getting some yarn for a pattern and the owner said "OK" and went back to her conversation with the people at the table. completely ignoring her, leaving her to struggle at the small wall of yarn with me.
I left after that. I'm not interested in supporting them in the least I didn't purchase anything. I never understood why people judge a yarn store partly on the staff's interaction with the customers. After today I know.

Patricia’s Yarns is a warm, welcoming, and lovely shop in Hoboken, NJ! It’s one of those shops that you just feel was meant for a place like Hoboken. It is currently filled with the most gorgeous yarns with vibrant colors for fall. You feel inspired from the moment you walk in the door. Patricia is extremely welcoming to her customers and very helpful when you have a question or if you’re looking for a new project. I took a beginner class there 3 years ago and knitting has been a year round hobby and obsession ever since thanks to this shop and Patricia. The table in front is always sprinkled with a variety of charming projects to really let you see what the yarn looks like when you knit it up. Patricia also has one of those wonderful business owner memories where she can recall exactly what you’re working on, what you have knitted in the past, and what type of yarn or colors you typically enjoy knitting with. I have been there many times when she will walk around the shop with a new customer suggesting yarns for a possible project. She has created a beautiful and friendly atmosphere in her shop and you can definitely tell that she loves what she does! The enthusiasm in the shop is contagious and it’s a wonderful place to learn and create!

I just read “Disappointed’s” review of my shop. I am incredibly sorry that you had that experience. As a hands-on owner that works at the shop – a place that I love - six days a week, I promise that customer service is my first priority – and has been for over six years.
Please feel free to return, introduce yourself, and let me make it up to you.
All the best,
Patricia

I visited Patricia's shop in October and had a wonderful experience. I live in Toronto Canada where there is an incredible variety of yarn shops so I am not easily swayed.
I came with my daughter-in-law and 3 month old grandaughter in tow. There was no problem with my daughter-in-law breast feeding the baby in the rocking chair at the back of the store while I browsed.
I picked up yarn for a couple of baby projects, a book and some Elizabeth Zimmerman videos.
I was very impressed with Patricia. She was knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions but did not hover.
