Small store, but great selection! Sue the owner is friendly and helpful and always willing to chat with you. Kid friendly, she has a nice selection of toys for lil ones to play with, and has on occasion gotten down on the floor to play a puzzle with my toddler while I shopped. There is a shop cat also :)

I recently visited this very, very small shop. The selection was more budget oriented than I prefer, but the owner is super nice.

I really enjoy going to this cozy little store. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable.

I did not have the same experience. The owner acted as if I was a huge bother for her. I am a fairly new knitter and haven't done a lot of yarn shopping. I needed some direction as I wasn't familiar with the yarn and how the shop was organized, but it seemed to be a huge imposition on Sue. I will not be returning.

Dear anonymous, as a regular customer and knitting student of Sue's, let me assure that my considerable experience with Mew Mews has always been positive. I appreciate that Sue carries affordable yarn, which is not always the case for LYS. As a teacher, she is patient, thorough, and fun.

Mew Mews is a cute fun shop! I love to go in and look around often finding something. Sue is a great help! I am a knitter and decided to take her crochet class on a whim. It started the evening I just happened by the store & she just let me join the group. It was great!

I shared the same experience of the disappointed customer. Relatively new to knitting, I was treated quite coldly (though the shop cat was friendly). My sense is that the owner enjoys others that share her level of expertise, but can't be bothered by those coming to look to begin knitting. A shame and rather odd, but I certainly won't be returning to such a uninviting store.

I had heard from several knitting friends about similar poor experiences with the customer service, so I never bothered to go check out Mew Mew's until her 3rd anniversary sale a few weeks ago- The service was just fine, I wasn't looking for help, but she was friendly and welcoming when I came in. My only problem was that the selection wasn't very good, a lot of the yarn seemed cheap, rather than just inexpensive- most of the silks and cottons did not have a very nice hand, and really the only yarn I was impressed with was the bulky weight baby alpaca, which was lovely! She has a decent spinning fiber selection, though does not seem to carry any of the finer breeds or fibers, and only has one choice for a drop spindle, but its a small shop. I will go again, but probably not my first choice for yarn in the area.

The shop cat always treats me well. One time I was buying point protectors and was asked, in a very condescending tone, if I knew what I was buying. Another time I was in a hurry to leave town and asked my boyfriend, who also does fiber crafts, to buy me a circular needle. I forgot to tell him the cable length I needed. When she asked him what I was making to help with the decision he was planning on saying, "I don't know, but she is using yarn that is finer, maybe fingering?" He got to the "yarn" part when she started laughing at him and said something like, "Oh, she's using YARN to knit?!? hahaha. Obviously she is using yarn!" Ridiculous. That was my last purchase there. Men can be crafty too, and laughing at your customers is not the best choice. I'm already in the car, I'll just shoot down South Boulder Road to a store that won't laugh at me in Boulder.

I went by again about three months ago and was much more impressed with the yarn selection. I bought several things. I hear they have a new location now--a very good idea!

The employee working when I went (was not the regular owner) seemed either way too 'helpful' or afraid we would steal something. She shadowed our every move and commented on everything we touched or looked at. It was smothering. She did the same to another couple that came in the store while we were there. Maybe she was just nervous, but it was distracting.
She was just trying to be helpful, though. Okay selection, and of course it is a small shop (aren't they all!?)

Another newbie turned off here. I went in to the new Lafayette location a couple of weeks ago and while the words spoken were helpful enough, the tone was condescending and I felt like I was interrupting. A friend of mine raves about the store, I may give it another chance when I have a few more projects under my belt.

I enjoy this store. It is small, but has lovely yarns. The owner greeted me, offered assistance, and directed me to the sought after book. I plan to return
