I am in D.C. right now for a business trip and decided to stop in partly just to check out the store but also because I legitimately needed some tools. The shop has a great selection of yarn - they have both high end and more economical yarns, and a good variety to choose from at any gauge.
The staff is SUPER-friendly and helpful, and that influences the customers, too. Everyone was willing to chat with me about their projects, and they gave good advice about what tools/yarns are appropriate for which projects.
They also have a crocheter on staff.
They do have some pencil roving, which you could either knit or spin with, given your preference.
"Seating" isn't checked above, for some reason, but there is a loveseat in the front room, so you can sit and knit.

Worth the climb to the second floor, this bright and airy shop on Dupont Circle is welcoming in every way, from helpful staff; to customers who love to hang out and knit and share a laugh; to yarn arranged in two rooms according to weight, and luxury yarns, needles, hooks and notions conveniently arranged by the registers. A computer is available for customers' use to browse online patterns (or if you're like me, to check stash online on Ravelry to see if a new yarn will work with what's already in your closet!), and a ballwinder and swift are set up between a large window and comfy seating, in case you want to cast on your lovely new yarn right then & there.
Go ahead, you deserve it! Check out Looped Yarn Works and stay awhile! Personally, I think they should call the place a "Yarn Spa" because I felt pampered and refreshed when I left with my purchases.

Yes, the staff is very, very friendly and helpful. The front room was bright and airy. They did have a good selection of yarn based on their size. I really wanted to make a purchase; however, of three yarns I decided on, each had split lot numbers. Unfortunately I walked out without a purchaes which is extremely rare. Would recommend just because it was a fun place to be.
