If you want to go an LYS that knows how to welcome visitors, this is the one. I felt right at home. The atmosphere is unbelievable, a great energy. Right off the bat I was invited for the Thursday Knit Night and I took them up on the offer and had a great time and met some awsome knitters. If you are in the Amish Country, do not miss this great LYS and tell them that Laura sent you.
Peace,
Laura

If you're looking for a shop with a mix of local yarns and simple favorites, Lancaster Yarn Shop (LYS) is the place to stop. LYS has an extensive collection of needles, notions, books, and even all sorts of items from local artists. There is always someone in the shop willing to help you find exactly what you're looking for. If you are in the area, just stop in and see what's happening. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Unbelievably warm atmosphere with wonderfully kind and talented staff. When I walk into the Lancaster Yarn Shop (LYS), I feel like it's Christmas morning - There are some many gorgeous yarns to choose from and fun pieces of art, needles, pottery! It's definitely worth a trip in and the staff is more than happy to help with picking out yarn, finding patterns and colors and helping work through problems with your knitting and crocheting. Make time to stop and tell them Lauren says hello!!

The warm welcome of unconditional acceptance that emanates from Lancaster Yarn Shop reaches out and gives everyone who enters a giant hug.
Yes, the shop is filled with a wonderfully displayed selection of exquisite yarns, a wide assortment of needles, knitting accessories, beautiful buttons, art, pottery and all of the other items one would expect to find in a yarn shop of this caliber.
And, of course, shop owner, Wendy and each of her talented staff have patience of the supernatural variety and thoroughly enjoy alleviating our complicated pattern woes and missed stitch frustrations.
But the bottom line for me is that, without fail, every time I visit Lancaster Yarn Shop I feel better all the way down to my core after my visit than I did before I arrived.
You know that feeling you get when the planets align, and you suddenly find yourself having a really great day? That’s the real treasure you will find at Lancaster Yarn Shop!

I found Lancaster Yarn Shop when I stayed in that area for an extended period due to family illness. In a very stressful time I found it to be a haven for me. I was able to stop there and at the downtown location several times.
What a warm inviting atmosphere! Wendy has a great selection of yarn. I especially liked the yarn she carried from local spinners and indie dyers. Everyone was very helpful and let me browse to my heart's content.
The store is located in a beautiful old house with a great deal of ambience and charm. It's right in Kitchen Kettle Village so you could make an entire day out of a visit there.
I would definitely recommend visiting the Lancaster Yarn Shop if you are anywhere in the area! Thanks to Wendy and everyone there for all of your help and listening to my woes!
Must knit now,
Phyll

I found this shop while my mom and I were visiting Lancaster for a mother-daughter vacation. I almost didn't drop in but I'm glad I did. I love their selection of fibres and the knowledgeable and helpful staff (Wendy is a gem).
I especially love their ty-dy sock yarn selection and their kettle dyed fibre from Uruguay.
Lancaster Yarn Shop will forever be on my must visit list when I travel through the area!

Stopped by on vacation recently and had a wonderful time at this yarn shop!
The selection of this shop was extremely interesting! A lot of yarn that I did not see at my local yarn shops. Service was absolutely wonderful (above and beyond really).
I will definitely stop by again if I make it anywhere near the area!!

Everything I was going to say about this shop has already been said, and better than I could put it at that! The atmosphere is fantastic in an old house that just has so much charm. Wendy and her oldest daughter were there and gave us the warmest greeting and we had a great conversation with them while perusing the beautiful selection they had. Wendy is really knowledgeable and so warm and friendly that my mom and I were bummed we had missed out on a chance to spend more time with her the night before during their regular knit night!
Side note - Wendy saw us in our car looking at our map shortly after and asked where we were off to next. When we told her we were looking for a brewery she recommended a great local one that was fantastic! Yet another reason to love this place.
