Notes
Knitting Bee has a really good variety of yarns for knitting and crochet in a bright and cozy shop staffed by friendly people. Open Mondays in December and January.
You'll find all the big name yarn companies represented including Rowan, Classic Elite, Berroco, Noro, Debbie Bliss, Cascade and Plymouth. Plus lots of artisan dyers like Dream in Color, Malabrigo, Mountain Colors, Manos del Uruguay, and Lorna's Laces. And local favorites Stitchjones, Black Trillium and Frog Creek.
The shop also has a great selection of books and patters, lots of options in needles and notions, and a small area dedicated to spinning and needle felting.
Located just west of Portland, just a couple of minutes once you exit the Sunset Hwy. Worth the drive from downtown, or a quick stop if you're heading out to the coast.

The Knitting Bee has a great selection and an always friendly staff. Their Wed. Knit Night is fun and welcoming.

A great LYS! I've been shopping there for a couple years and the only time I ever stumped them was when I asked for an elastic drive band for my spinning wheel, which is a pretty obscure thing to be looking for.

The best in the Portland Metro area!!! Large selection, knowledgeable staff, friendly, beautifully arranged- a wonderful LYS!!!!!!!

Definitely worth the drive from downtown Portland! Beemergirl and I expanded our knitting tour to include this shop and we were treated to a wonderfully organized store and an engaging staff! The owner chatted with us about the history of how she opened the store (just 5 years ago!) and we have to hand it to her, she has done a marvelous job!

A real gem of a knit shop! SunflowerCompass and I unfortunately walked into the shop about 10 minutes before closing due to heavy traffic on 84. The staff allowed us to look around at our leisure, while they worked on closing the shop. They even wound the yarn that I purchased- It is important to them to not cut corners or rush, making sure that all our needs were met. I will definitely visit this store again when in Portland!

Visited them recently on the 2011 PDX Knit Crawl! My sister and I visited all twenty stores in two days! On the longest leg of our trip, with the rain pouring down, they welcomed us with open arms! Even though it was close to closing time they offered us a place to sit, hot tea, coffee and gorgeous yarns, every knitters dream! Oh, and let's not forget their great bargain bin and the luscious free LoLo Bar sample!
Though a pretty long haul, I'd make it again, and I can see myself stopping by on my way out to the coast. They had fun patterns and were super kid friendly. They had DVDs of movies to pop in at their seating area to keep kids entertained, and those of us who really like "kid" movies.
They receive my "Most Kid Friendly" award. I mean who else offers not just toys to distract little ones from running amok, but also such a standard form of entertainment. I can imagine kids getting excited to go to this shop with mom, so they can watch the next chapter in a movie.
