Love, love, love, love this shop. They are friendly, helpful and oh-so sweet. The owner and her staff are at your beck and call the second you walk in the door...and the regulars might as well be wearing nametags & working there too because everyone was so helpful. Other customers didn't think twice about putting down their project to help me with finding the perfect skein. Definitely go if you're ever in the neighborhood.

It's like a candy store for knitters--but lots fewer calories.

This store is unlike I have ever been in. The selection is huge and the staff goes beyond the call of duty to help you in anyway they can.

What a shop! Oh, soooo "sweet"....and the sweetest, most brilliant staff who love to make one's project as sweet....I often remark that the shop is a cross between a "couch" for psychiatric treatment, a sanctuary for spiritual renewal, a clinic for physical therapy and a balm for the female psyche (and I suppose male as well!) all housed together into what Virginia Woolf may have meant in a "A Room of One's Own." I often drop by and casually recluse in a soft chair and ruminate while knitting. When I leave, the world has become a better place!
My appreciation to Donna et al who afford such aesthetic luxury here in Birmingham. Guyanne Baker

Our knitting group went to Birmingham knit shops one Saturday for a field trip. We all LOVED In the Making. Everyone, including the regulars were extremely helpful. As fas as their selection is concerned, all I can say it WOW!!! I wish I lived closer because I would go all the time. I can't say enough nice things about this place!

I LOVED how friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth the staff was in this lovely shop. Joanne made me feel capable and confident with starting my project! I'll be back!

I visited In The Making this past week while in B'ham. The shop is so clean and bright and the selection of yarns and patterns is beyond fabulous! I felt very welcomed by the staff and they were just the right amount of helpful and genuinely friendly. I look forward to my next visit! If you're traveling through B'ham and can only visit one shop, I highly recommend this one. You won't be disappointed!

I learned to knit from one of my customers/good friends. I learned to LOVE to knit from the people at this shop! They are the nicest people and will help you with a genuine desire to help. Since Im still learning, I go to them for help with my knitting projects and I never feel like I'm bothering them. They have such a large selection and the shop provides such a pleasant atmosphere. Visit it! Even if you're not a knitter, you'll leave as one. I promise!!

This shop is absolutely the best! The quality and selection is great. Best part --- the people! You'll not find more knowledgeable staff anywhere. They're never too busy to help you learn something new or straighten out a mistake. I love how they're glad for you to drop in and knit anytime you wish. Great place!!!!!

I stopped in this shop a few weeks ago on the way home from a trip and really loved it! Super selection of quality yarns and knitting related items. I purchased several things. I will make a point to stop in again if I am passing through Birmingham. Wonderful shop and all were very friendly. Cute gift shop next door The Nesting Place and a great cafe for lunch Eat Your Colors. Starbucks too and many children oriented shops in this small shopping center.

A wonderful store, my first actual LYS. These people got me going on knitting, along with my wife (who taught me most of the chops).
