Never been to the shop, but the website is a visual assault--neon colors, unreadable fonts. Their projects look way too cutesy-poo for me, but the website has almost no pictures of any of their finished projects from the patterns they advertise. I'll probably never go.

They have almost no yarn, and an annoying dog.

They are nicer to deal with than Stitching Memories, however, I felt awkward shopping, due to the fact that there were a bunch of ladies yakking and gossiping in the center of the store, sitting on couches, knitting. weird. Couldn't they have them in a corner in the back and use that space for more supplies of needles/yarn??

hey, I am one of those ladies yakking in the center of the store, and that is one of the things I really like about the place. It is a fun place to sit and knit.
The people working there are very helpful when you need assistance.

Although the shop is small they are the kindest people I have ever met. They don't care "if you bought from them".. They want you to be sucessfull knitter..Classes are wonderful and free with purchase.I go there first to see if they have what I need before going to any other shop. In this time of people only caring about there own benfit it INSPRIING" to see people with so much GIVING!! Keep up the good work. As far as the dog.. I am sure he was only trying to welcome you.. Remember dog hair is a "fiber" too.

Small shop, but really nice variety of yarns. Didn't get to meet the dog, but probably wouldn't mind. Found lots of inspiration there - many projects were shown next to the yarns they were made of. Will be back soon . . .

Back to Handweavers today, bought enough for the next 3 projects. Met the dog - he's a "greeter" kind of pooch, barked hello when I first walked in, and then fell back asleep.
Found some fun novelty yarns for two decorative scarf projects, and a really sweet kit-in-a-ball - a soft, nubby ball of yarn that comes with it's own pattern and 3 buttons to make a toddler's sweater for just $14!
I like this shop very much - I'll be back! :) loongirl
ps - why does everyone write anonymously?

I have stopped into Handweavers several times. They are very willing to help and will order anything one may need. The shop is charming. I have gotten several patterns for children's knits that were on display. I have not stopped by to knit with the ladies, but I hope to do so in the future.

I really like Inspiring Yarn Shop. The owner is really nice and helpful. Maybe anonymous should actually visit the shop.
I admire entrepenuers who successfully run their own shops.
Even if you don't want to shop there you should support
others and not criticize for no reason.

I am one of the yakking ladies, too. We LOVE handweavers and the lovely ladies who own it and are there all the time to help us out (and anyone else who walks in the door. We always invite people who come to shop to join us. Sounds like the person who thought it was weird to have space for knitters to gather and share an afternoon doing what we love to do must not have a good feel for a really good yarn store and COMMUNITY!!! Get real.

I've been by this shop a few times now. I think the atmosphere is great and would probably be a very fun spot to sit and knit or take a class. I've had very good service there, as well. The selection is a bit limited but when I inquired about some yarn, I was told that they could order it for me.

This is a small shop that is lovingly run. They really support knitting for charity (25% discount on yarn, for instance). They clearly don't have the cashflow to stock everything in the world, as do bigger stories, but that's one thing I like about them. They care about quality, and they look at all types of yarn in a variety of price ranges, and they're not too snooty to carry Lion Brand, for instance, in a couple of lines where the yarn is great quality for the price. Almost every time I stop in, I see a cool project on display (often a house pattern, some of them free) which can be made w/yarn they have on hand. The tone of the website may be too cutesy for some, but look beyond that to the products and the kindness of the owners, and only true grinches will be put off.
As for the dog, come on. He stays behind the counter, and only barks when people come in. That's his job! Just think of him as a doorbell.
