I just visited this shop last week (Feb. 5, 08) and loved it. I'm not the most experienced knitter so I can't really speak of the selection; I got some koigu, berroco, and regia for the ever growing sock stash and cascade 220 for clogs. However the service was outstanding. I was asked several times if I needed help, even though I was just browsing, and not in that annoying are you trying to steal something way that some employees tend to have. Also while I was in there one of the employees was helping a customer with her knitting and couldn't have been more pleasant while doing it. Then when I was finished the lady who was ringing me up started talking about all the yarns stores in Birmingham, which is where I am from. I was very impressed by the polite and knowledgable staff and would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

I like Genuine Purl, but did not have a good customer service experience at the store. The selection is good, and I can always find something unique when I visit.

I just visited with a friend and found this to be a really nice yarn store. The customer service was good, especially considering my 2 1/2 y/o was running around. I liked the selection of yarns, but even better was the selection of needles and tools and books/magazines. They even had a nice selection of buttons that would be nice additions to projects. It seemed like there was a little knitting lesson going on while I was there or at least a sit and knit with a couple people in the midday and they seemed to really be having a nice time. I wish I was closer so I could visit this store more often!

Our crochet group had made plans to do a yarn shop road trip for over 6 months and included Genuine Pur in those plansl. However, both the employees were rude and downright nasty to all of us because we primarily crocheted, even though several of us knit as well. Their selection was so-so, but their attitude was repugnant. Don't waste your time with this shop if you crochet, unless you like to be abused and mistreated

Very anti-crochet yarn store. Key words - Yarn store. Being nasty towards people who could still purchase your yarn is a ridiculous strategy if you're trying to run a successful shop. I won't be back and will encourage other crocheters to keep driving when they get to Chattanooga!!!!

I visited Genuine Pearl this past Saturday and was very displeased to discover how "snooty" and unfriendly the owner and staff were towards crocheters. Very discouraging and there are plenty of crochet friendly local yarn shops. I would urge crocheters to bring their business elsewhere. What a shame!

I visited this store over the summer and had a wonderful time there. I happened to visit in June right when they had begun their summer sale and got some great deals. There were many people in the store, but I got just the right amount of attention. Just mentioning, not in a negative way, the regular crowd there was somewhat older and my husband did not feel as comfortable as he has in other yarn stores. There was not enough seating for him and there did not seem to be many regulars just hanging out knitting. They have a nice selection and a lovely wall of lace yarns. The notions and needle selection is limited. They have some needlepoint yarns as well. I would visit again if I was in the area.

Just went to the Genuine Pearl, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I got the wool I was looking for at a great price. I noticed the also had a glorious selection of buttons, and I was tempted to buy a few even though I don't need any now. I didn't end up leaving with the buttons, but I will definitely be going back for them.
While I did find what I needed, I have to say that the girl working there didn't seem to know the wares extremely well, and I could have found what I got just as quickly by myself.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this store.

I have been searching and searching for 2 patterns with absolutely no luck. I understand that you carry Knitting Pure and Simple patterns - according to the Pure and Simple internet site. Do you have the pattern #214 and #982??? PLEASE do!!!

I visited this store a couple of weeks ago while on holiday. The ladies were very friendly and helpful, and they had a lot of yarn stuffed into this small space! I was pleased to see 2 patterns knitted up as samples that I had been looking at knitting. It was nice to be able to see them in person. They had a nice selection of the big yarn co.'s and some lesser known yarns as well.

I just moved back to the area and was trying to find a yarn shop nearby. I'm so glad I found the Genuine Purl in my search. The ladies were so helpful, they have a good selection, and the atmosphere was very inviting. I will definitely be back to the shop for my future projects.

I love this store and their staff! Being a new knitter, I'm a bit "needy" and they are always willing to help me fix, rip-out, repair my project. Their knitting classes are fantastic and I could not be more pleased with absolutely everything. The yarn selection is gorgeous and they have never steered me wrong with my choices.

Aw. I'm heading back home to Louisville from Atlanta on Sunday and hoped to stop by here. Can't be open all the time I guess. Catch you next time I'm in town!
