Although it's a tight fit in their little shop, it is immaculate, well layed out and packed to the brim of all sorts of fantastic yarn. They also had all of the needles I was looking for. And the salesperson that helped me was super nice and enthusiastic about my new knitting adventure. It was a great experience.

I personally did not go to this store. HOWEVER, my boyfriend was in Anchorage on business, so I sent HIM into the store. He had a good experience, the woman who owned the store pointed him in the direction of Local dyers and fibers. He came home with a skein of local hand-dyed, and a luxurious skein of Qiviut! I am pleased with what he came home with, and if he goes back next year, I will certainly send him on another trip into the store!

In the past, I've sometimes felt that it was a little hard to feel welcomed and comfortable in this shop. I was in this weekend (March 2010), however, and had a very different experience. I had two different people ask if I needed help, which was nice. Also, they've really expanded the yarn that they offer, so the selection is really outstanding, probably the most diverse in Anchorage. The also seem to have increased the number of books/patterns they're offering. The shop is still tiny, tiny, tiny, but it seems to me that they've got more than ever before. If you're in Anchorage and looking for a LYS, hit this one. If you live in South Central Alaska and haven't been to FNYC in awhile, give them another try. I was impressed at the way they're growing!

Simply my favorite spot to shop, chat and knit. There is always someone who's ready to help if you need it. Otherwise you could browse for hours in the bright, comfortable atmosphere.

I go there to shop and always come home twice as enthusiastic about my project and most eager to start it.
