This is a nice shop. The owner is helpful a knitter herself and always willing to help find that yarn, pattern, or explain that weird stitch. Yarn selection is good basics and some nice specialtys. Cascade, Brown sheep,Encore and a selection of other beautiful wools. The shop carries a selection of sock yarns and needles. The shop offers classes and knits on Thursday for charities. Ewe Knit also has some cottons and bamboos. All and all a good place to visit for supplies and a visit with knittters.

I've had several people on Ravelry say the store is in the process of going out of business.

extremely dissapointed. quality of yarns offered on the cheap side in my opinion. inventories were low (though that was prior to the move so perhaps they were trying to lower it so there was less to move). Owner did not even acknowledge us, much less welcome us to the shop.

I have been in the shop many times and have been treated quite well. The shop owner was friendly, knowlegable, and helped me with my project on several occasions. I love Ewe Knit!

Wonderful shop, wonderful people....always willing to help with a problem, makes no difference if you purchased the yarn from the shop or not. If they do not have what you are looking for they will suggest where you might find it. If you are looking for a friendly place to go visit Ewe Knit.

Delightful shop and very pleasant staff who are most helpful. Very good selection of yarns of excellent quality, great pattern selection, and the doodads such as the beaded bracelet knit counter are unique and fairly priced. Definitely worth repeat visits -- and the atmosphere is far nicer than Country Lace in Maroa where everything is crowded, dusty, and out of date. Ewe Knit is a wonderful addition to our area.

Compared to other shops around, doesn't seem to have enough inventory...on it's way out or down due to the move?

I must say that the comments, the mean/rude ones, disturb me. Especially since I am co-owner of the store. This yarn store is run as a family business, NOT as a hobby. If yarns are low, then maybe we're getting ready to change brands, or an order is on its way. If you would kindly bring it to our attention, we would be more than happy to discuss this with you. Leaving negative comments is not constructive. If you don't let us know what you are looking for in yarns, it's hard for us to accommodate the knitting community. Please also note, we are in the midst of a recession -- it's as hard on us as store owners, as it is as you all as individuals.
The yarns we offer are the staples -- Cascade, Plymouth, Brown Sheep, Manos, Classic Elite. If we offered EVERY yarn that these companies carry, we'd have to own a warehouse. These yarns are NOT on the low end, they are workhorse yarns, and many are used repeatedly in magazines like "Interweave Knits," "Interweave Crochet," "Knit Simple," etc. We did carry Rowan, but it did not sell = we no longer carry Rowan.
Also, please note that this store is less than 3-years old. We're still growing and solidifying our plans. There is an ebb and flow.

I agree with Heather. I too am a shop owner and realize the importance of customer/owner communication. It is much more beneficial to both parties if customers make their wishes known. I guess if someone is leaving a negative comment, perhaps they didn't feel comfortable discussing things with the owner, but if at all possible, communication is the better route to follow.

I just visited the shop for the first time. the person working was knowledgeable and helped me find just what I was looking for. true they don't have tons of yarns but I am sure if you had a big project they would find a way to accomadate you. I will be buying all my "good" yarn from them.

I am from out of town but come to Bloomington to visit. I checked out 3 shops in the area and was happy that there were so many to choose from. I liked this shop because they were very nice and friendly towards me and had yarns that I enjoy knitting with, but it was very far from where I stay when I'm in town. If I have plenty of time, I will be back to this shop.

While visiting the town I grew up in, I was surprised to see so many knitting shops. Its great. This shop probably ranked 3rd on my list, but was a friendly shop. It just didn't have as many unique yarns as I was looking for on this visit. Lots of current road construction nearby, but that will go away I'm sure.
