Effiloché is a very nice neighborhood store. You feel welcomed there. They have a couch and you can bring your knitting and your questions. You can take your time, look at books and magazines, talk with the owner.

The three times i have visited this store, i was ignored. Staff was busy hanging out with friends , did not even notice me walking aroungf. Last time, there was a huge dog there, scared my daughter who would not come in, i have to shove it so it would stop sniffing my butt. Salesgirl was laughing with owner, felt relaxed about scaring my 2 year old. I left. i wrote to the store, got no response. They clearly don't need my bussiness. They have a large selection of VERY expensive organic-seaweed-hand dyed wools in bright pink, and only a few patterns , no knitting magazines.

I had a great experience here when I visited in October. Very friendly staff. Incredibly beautiful yarns oozing from every nook and cranny, a nice combination of big name yarns and indie hand-dyers. If only I could have bought more! I will definitely return next time I'm in Montréal with yarn money!

My favourite store to visit when I make it out to Montreal. Such pretty yarns, and a really nice vibe.

I really enjoy this shop as well, but I find it to be a bit cramped. I was there just before Christmas so I suppose it's not always that busy, but I felt like I was always in someone's way or like I might knock something over. There was such a vast variety of yarns to choose from - lots of chunky ones (which I like) and decent prices. I didn't mind the dog - he/she was pretty docile, and I like when people let their animals hang out in stores. It keeps non-animal people out!

Cute store. I love how they also have fabric. Unfortunately advice is not free and they charge you for using the swift. They also almost always never have enough yarn for big projects, in which case they told my friend to go to another yarn store that did.
