They have lots of yarn I've never seen before. Every time I've been the people there have been friendly. Just beware that they have some yarns there are marked up over MSRP. A major pet peeve of mine.

What a lovely spot. It's like a little house filled with yarn. 2 floors, with really beautiful yarn every where. The only problem I had was trying to browse yarn upstairs where the communal knitting table was. I felt like I was in the way.

The Down Cellar recently move a few doors down from there original spot.

This what a yarn store should be like. I especially like the open knitting sessions on Monday afternoons (also on Thursday evenings, but I haven't been to one of those).

There is not better group of women running a knit shop anywhere. These ladies truly love the craft and will do anything to help you be successful. The Thursday night knitting group is so much fun. A truly classic group of women who enjoy each others company. Great for the ego also - the oohs and aahs over finished projects does an ego good. Join the fun!1

My absolute favorite store in NJ. Wonderful staff. They kept my 5 year old daughter occupied so I could take my time picking out the yarn for a color work project.
