Welcome to Borealis Yarns in St. Paul, Minnesota. We are an independently-owned store, in business since 2004. We carry a wide range of yarns, including Noro, Schaefer, Debbie Bliss, Cascade, Elsebeth Lavold, Louisa Harding, Cherry Tree Hill, Plymouth, Jamieson, Lucy Neatby, and many, many more. We also have many novelty yarns and an amazing wall of of self-striping, hand painted, and solid-color sock yarns.
J&S Coffee is next door, and can be accessed through an interior door. There is free wifi (that covers Borealis Yarns and the outside tables), a child play area, boardgames, and a large bookcase full of Bookcrossing books. In addition to drinks there is also soup and sandwiches, and tamales on the weekend.
Borealis Yarns has a staff pick of the day (10% off) and a large sale area in the back room. There is a knit night Tuesday from 6-8pm, and community knitting on Sunday from noon-2pm. Also, there is a free knitting clinic on the first Wednesday of each month - a Borealis original pattern that teaches a new knitting skill.

Very cool shop in St. Paul. Convienetly located next to a cafe (with a connecting door) and two areas to sit and knit. Recommend checking this one out for sure!

No matter what stage of expertise one is in at the moment regarding knitting, this is a shop that will welcome you. It can be intimidating to even ENTER a knit shop when you are just starting out. You will not feel this way at Borealis. Those people are wonderful. They make time for questions and they help without being condescending. You really believe that they are glad to see you and want you to just sit down and knit. Great shop and not to be overlooked!!!!!!

Borealis Yarns is my favorite knit shop in the area. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Their yarn selection is wonderful as well as their patterns.
I've taken two classes there and have learned more than I thought I would in each one.
Check out Borealis Yarns if you're looking for a new knitting shop!

I think that the yarn selection, especially the sock yarn, is amazing at this shop and the location is great (wonderful coffee shop next door). However, two out of three times I've been here I've gotten a bit of a stink eye as if it was a difficult task to ring my order up. I also got asked if I really needed more than one skein of the yarn I bought wound (all were hanks) after I had already said that I do not own a ball winder and swift.
