Very cool shop in St. Paul. Convienetly located next to a cafe (with a connecting door) and two areas to sit and knit. Recommend checking this one out for sure!

No matter what stage of expertise one is in at the moment regarding knitting, this is a shop that will welcome you. It can be intimidating to even ENTER a knit shop when you are just starting out. You will not feel this way at Borealis. Those people are wonderful. They make time for questions and they help without being condescending. You really believe that they are glad to see you and want you to just sit down and knit. Great shop and not to be overlooked!!!!!!

Borealis Yarns is my favorite knit shop in the area. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Their yarn selection is wonderful as well as their patterns.
I've taken two classes there and have learned more than I thought I would in each one.
Check out Borealis Yarns if you're looking for a new knitting shop!

I think that the yarn selection, especially the sock yarn, is amazing at this shop and the location is great (wonderful coffee shop next door). However, two out of three times I've been here I've gotten a bit of a stink eye as if it was a difficult task to ring my order up. I also got asked if I really needed more than one skein of the yarn I bought wound (all were hanks) after I had already said that I do not own a ball winder and swift.

I really like the selection at the store, but the service is crappy 75% of the time. The clerks are more interested in socializing with each other than helping customers. IF the owenr is there you get decent service, but at night when the owner isn't there (and the only time I can get there) the service is hit and miss.

Wonderful shop! They have a large selection of yarns, and helpful people working. The classes are small but fun, and very educational. They even have a very small section of roving for spinning and occasionally a drop spindle or two. Just make sure to look at the whole shop or you will miss the large back room just full of beautiful yarns!

I am very pleased with this shop, it is one of the few I've patronized where the staff are both young and diverse. An amazing array of sock yarns, a very nice sale area and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Abby is especially concerned that she is bringing both good quality and prices for all of customers. They just opened a downtown St Paul shop in the Ecolab Plaza, 1st floor for downtown knitters!

Borealis is a wonderful neighborhood place with a coffee shop next door. The staff is great. Especially Katie. It is the shop I most often buy at and get help at.

I stumbled upon Borealis on a rare trip down from Duluth. The selection is excellent, the service was very good, very knowledgeable. I found the knit and crochet sample items extremely tempting. My daughter and I seemed to be attracted to each one, wanting to make each one for ourselves. They are a good selling point! Of course, I went out with more than what I had planned and I will be back!

I am currently reading Knitting the Threads of Time and am delighted to see there really is a Borealis shop. It will make the book even more enjoyable. I live in Melbourne Australia. Anything to do with knitting gets me going.

This is my favorite yarn shop. Everyone I have met there (the staff and other customers) have been incredible. The staff is very knowledgeable, very friendly and always willing to help with any questions. I have never been disappointed with this store. This is by far my first choice in yarn shops.
As a great bonus it is connected to a J&S coffee shop which serves several certified organic and fair-trade coffees, is involved with Minnesota Farmer's Union as well as providing fundraising opportunities for local schools, clubs, and church groups.
It’s a wonderful pairing.
