Crystal and her shop Boll Weaver, are just the BEST! I love to shop and learn with both of them!
Crystal knows so much about every kind of product and her experience as a fiber arts specialist is amazing.
I live in the Los Angeles area and save all my shopping needs until I visit our children in the Eureka area.
I have a learning disability and have some difficulty learning things as quickly as others. Crystal is so patient and kind with me, it is a sheer joy to learn from her. In fact, I plan trips around her classes. I count on her to teach me all of those beautiful patterns that I see in the knitting and crocheting books!
She taught me how to knit, spin, and card and has given me many, many tips on the exact yarns that I need for each project that I progress into. My first skien of yarn, that I thought was so awful, won first prize at the local County Fair. I cried like a baby, it was the first thing I have ever won in my life and it was because of Crystal and her giving me such great encouragement and a good education on my spinning.
Thanks again Crystal, Love you!

Dearest Crystal:
How are you? Hope all is well and that the yarn sale was a fabulous success! :D
As you know, I am getting "Stuff" ready for Girls camp, GASP!! Lots to do, and my 'ol self gets too tired too soon. :((.
However, I do want to take my spinning wheel to camp and do a mini-demo on spinning and then I thought I would like to show the girls how to do some carding. But, I am NOT taking my big carder to camp. 1. It is too dangerous for the girls, I just invision all kinds of slices fingers!!!:((. 2. It is too heavy and bulky.
Would it be possible for you to send me some carding paddles? I know I have not used them before but it would at least give the girls an idea of the process, an an appreciation of what it takes/took to make fleece into yarn. I think I might be able to "fake it 'til I make it" with the paddles.
Just let me know how much for the paddles and shipping and I will get back to you with a check or my credit card number, which ever is easier for you.
Camp starts June 8-11.
Another thought. Is there any way that your clever friend could come up with tredles for the carder? I think it would I would be so much more productive if I had foot control of the drum speed and could use both of my hands for the work with the fleece. Does this sound dumb? After working with the spinning wheel, that is what made me think of this.
I would be very happy to pay him for his time and materials. It would sure help me, as I imagine myself now, with ten more bags of fleece coming in. EEEECH! How can I be more effecient? With a motor I have no control of the speed of the the drum. With my feet I have the feel of the wheel and can concentrate on the feeding the fleece in correctly.
Call if you can or e-mail me. Which ever is best for you.
Home phone: 661-252-2624. If I am not home, leave me a time when is good to get back with you.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Please erase this comment as it is so personal. I will write another one for you and your shop.
Love and hugs, Kathy

I went to this store once and never again. The owner offered to teach me to drop spin for $20/hour while the store was open and she would have stop teaching me to help customers. If I'm paying her to teach me, I want her attention. I learned from YouTube instead.

I've been shopping there for ten years. The BEST in Eureka for yarn, fiber for spinning, spinning tools and wheels. The classes are great, and the owner is informative and always helpful. Large cities would be fortunate to have such a nice place to go.

Met these folks at Stitches West 2009 and they were DARLING! Some of the absolutely best customer service in the entire show! They had an amazing selection of Chasing Rainbows yarn - my absolutely favorite hand-dyed yarn - and I was thrilled with my purchases. I definitely hope to get up to Eureka sometime to visit their shop.

Another abysmal rating for customer service in this area. However, does offer spinning & weaving equipment, supplies, & classes, which is a boon.
