For years, Ball and Skein and More was the only game in town (and 15 miles north of town) for instant gratification when it came to yarn stores, but now there's competition, and Ball and Skein isn't keeping up. There's no where to sit, the displays are less than pretty, my favorite staff members have left, and they still don't have a website. Still, they've got the best selection in San Luis Obispo county.

Re JenMuse comment, Ball and Skein is right in Cambria, not 15 miles north. From her comments, I doubt that she has been to the store.

The delightful Oz and Kris bought The venerable Ball and Skein in 2009. They have poured their hearts into revitalizing the store, and it shows! As of May 16, 2012, they will moving round the corner to a new location at 4210 Bridge St, and it is a gorgeous site. Oz took me on a little pre-move tour, and I am so excited for them and us, the yarn obsessed citizens of SLO county.
Still a 15 mile drive for me, from Cayucos/Morro Bay, but definitely worth it!
