Apple Yarns is the best store in Whatcom County. I just got my Malagrigio Lace there and I couldn't be happier. I couldn't believe all the Cascade 220 and Encore they had. Now I have the perfect shop for both my basics and my treats.

This is a good yarn store, but not my favorite. They don't have enough variety. Half a store filled with Cascade 220 isn't exactly impressive with me. I prefer Northwest Handspun. The help here was nice, and the store is good, but not the best in Bellingham.

Andrea here (owner) I just wanted to add that less than 3% of our wonderful store is Cascade 220. I would encourage everyone to visit all the yarn stores in Bellingham. We live in a great community.

Bad experience with this store! The customer service is not so great. Ordered yarn and kept trying to contact the owner for months to find out status of my order, with no replies until several months had gone by, and after several contact attempts. Finally replied to about my 5th email, and told me my yarn was still not in after 6 months, and then never any further contact or updates. Finally found ANOTHER store that had the same yarn, and they ordered and had it for me in LESS than two weeks! Hmmmm. I will never shop there again---plenty of other stores who will give much better customer service!

I just wanted to mention that I am sorry for the bad experience above. There are very few yarns that take that long to get in but there are some. It sounds like I should have searched others stores instead of going to the manufacturer (we do this sometimes but not enough obviously). Thank you and we will change the way we handle special orders in the future. Andrea

I visited this shop on the third day of the LYStour 09 with a friend. It is a very delightful store. We were greeted warmly and were encouraged to look around ask if we had any questions. They have a ton of knitted examples and we really enjoyed our time there.

I was in the area and visited this shop. It's in a lovely, newly developed part of town, which makes the experience just that much more pleasant. The staff was helpful but didn't hover. I found the selection and range of yarns to be excellent. I went in looking for two specific yarns for a beret and ended up with that, along with yarn and pattern for another project. The shop was relatively busy just before Christmas, but all the customers got personal attention. I will certainly make this a must-visit the next time I am in Bellingham.

I had such an awesome experience participating in "The Knitting Olympics" during the month of February. I was attempting my 1st garmet & feeling rather intimidated. I found all of my supplies & received so much encouragement & technical help from staff & customers alike. Good News: I completed it. Now, onto a sock class...
