Our NEW storefront at 1012 B. Mission Street, three doors east of Buster's Coffee Shop, is bigger and brighter than our original location, with areas dedicated strictly to knitting and to needlepoint, so you can find exactly what you need in a flash... but it's cozy enough that you'll want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. The best part is that you'll get the same friendly attention, hand-picked supplies and helpful classes that you've come to expect at Abuelita's!

Abuelita's is a beautiful yarn shop where one wants to linger and sit at the big table and knit. The yarn selection is very good, only a couple of the popular brands are missing (Sublime, Karabella, etc.) but there are plenty of good substitutes if one cannot find the exact yarn that one is looking for. Service is good, however there is a lack of the general warmth and "friendly attention" that makes for a truly great LYS.

I agree about the lack of warmth and friendly attention. I went there recently looking for a specific yarn and the person working there was definitely not friendly.

I went there Thursday 12/27/07. The store is really nice
and I find yarns there that I have not found in other stores
when looking. Service was perfect and friendly.
I am a knitter and needlepointer and would shop there anytime and plan to do so.
Only thing I find difficult is that the $45.00 for private
session does not allow you to bring in your own canvas
for needlepoint.

Wow I'm surprised because I haven't found a lack of warmth and 'friendly attention.' Every time I've been there, I have had helpful and pleasant interactions with not only the staff but fellow shoppers as well. This is a great shop with a fantastic selection...one of my favorites.

I am looking for that gorgeous new yarn you had in the day I was there. its the one with the sequeins or beads on it, kind of glitzy, and I a need it in black. I find it hard to believe that anyone at this shop wasn't warm or friendly. In any case, contact the store owner and let her know if you feel you were ignored or mis-treated in any way.

This a wonderful yarn shop with an equally wonderful staff. They offer good, many, choices in yarns, and their collection is sizable enough for browsing.

This is one of my favorite yarn shops because they know well enough to leave me be as I shop, but still check in from time to time to see if I need any assistance.

I have recently discovered Abuelita's and love this store. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, the selection of yarn is pretty good and the staff is friendly. The teachers that they have are really good. I will continue to go back here and it has become one of my favorite yarn/knitting stores.
