I agree about the lack of warmth and friendly attention. I went there recently looking for a specific yarn and the person working there was definitely not friendly.

I went there Thursday 12/27/07. The store is really nice
and I find yarns there that I have not found in other stores
when looking. Service was perfect and friendly.
I am a knitter and needlepointer and would shop there anytime and plan to do so.
Only thing I find difficult is that the $45.00 for private
session does not allow you to bring in your own canvas
for needlepoint.
Thank You

Wow I'm surprised because I haven't found a lack of warmth and 'friendly attention.' Every time I've been there, I have had helpful and pleasant interactions with not only the staff but fellow shoppers as well. This is a great shop with a fantastic selection...one of my favorites.

I am looking for that gorgeous new yarn you had in the day I was there. its the one with the sequeins or beads on it, kind of glitzy, and I a need it in black. Can someone please email me if you have it. You were just putting it out. $30 a roll I think. I think I need two. Thanks. Lmagidsohn@yahoo.com

I find it hard to believe that anyone at this shop wasn't warm or friendly. In any case, contact the store owner and let her know if you feel you were ignored or mis-treated in any way.

This a wonderful yarn shop with an equally wonderful staff. They offer good, many, choices in yarns, and their collection is sizable enough for browsing.

This is one of my favorite yarn shops because they know well enough to leave me be as I shop, but still check in from time to time to see if I need any assistance.

I have recently discovered Abuelita's and love this store. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, the selection of yarn is pretty good and the staff is friendly. The teachers that they have are really good. I will continue to go back here and it has become one of my favorite yarn/knitting stores.

A cozy store in a great neighborhood with a good variety of yarns and supplies. However, the staff is very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Every time I have visited this shop I kick myself for giving them my money.

That's so surprising I don't spend a lot of money there EVER, but I always get GREAT service. I wish you didn't feel that! I love this place!

I was just so-so on this place - The selection was nice, but didn't find anything "different" here. It may have been the day - it IS L.A. and the Oscars were tonight - but when I heard the person who was working behind the counter say, "I'd like to close up to get ready to see the Oscars but all these people keep coming in here," I didn't especially feel welcome. (Her tone didn't make it seem like a joke - but I don't know her and it could have been.) I took my cue and left, though.

I did find some wonderful yarn in the sale bins out on the sidewalk. It was cash only so I couldn't get as much of it as I wanted due to my own lack of foresight.

I love Abuelitas. It is a great Yarn store. Some people are wonderful and some are not but that is the way life is. I love this store though!!!

Went for the first time Saturday, Aug 15 and wow...such a cool place. Love this shop.

My mom and I visited this shop and we were the only ones in (we went @ 5pm) and the lady working that day (maybe the owner) was really cool, and let us browse w/ no pressure/harassment :D She even wound my yarn for me! We loves that ;)

I was really impressed with the nice selection of yarn!
Lots of Malabrigo (in yummy colors), lots of Noro, Rowan, Schaefer, Misti Alpaca, small selection of sock yarn (Jitterbug was one that I recognized), and good sized needlepoint section. There was a wall of Addi circ needles, and there were Lantern Moon needles, a few Kollage Square Needles and Crystal Palace. And a nice book/magazine selection as well as the manufacturers catalogs next to the yarn :D

I love the frequent buyer card and the reusable project bag you recieve w/ purchase! Very cute. Will be a frequent visitor/buyer!

I visited Abuelita's recently on my last day of my trip to the USA and I was really impressed with this store - I wish I had one like it back home! Samantha was really lovely and super helpful, despite there being several other customers in the store to attend to. She even looked up some things on Ravelry for me and showed me examples of things customers had made with some yarn that I was considering. The selection of yarn was really broad and there was a huge selection of Madelinetosh yarns in great colours and quantities, so those made up most of my purchases.
Wish I could come back again soon, but that will have to wait until my next trip to the USA.

I live in Illinois and was visiting family in CA.....I was looking forward to going to this store....I got there on a Tuesday (granted a little early at 10:30 since the sign said they store opens at 11:00 - so my sister and I got some coffee down the street and waited) at 11:05 I tried to open the door and it was locked...we tried calling the store to see if the hours were still correct and we did not get an answer and all the lights were out....bottom line, we walked around and waited until 11:40 a.m. and still the store was not open and no one around to be seen. I was driving from San Diego to Fresno and was unable to come back. Very disappointed that I was unable to shop in this store and there was no sign posted that the hours had changed. I will be driving back to San Diego this weekend...I don't know if I will have time to stop by again.

A charming store. Parking is difficult, but the store was well organized and had a lovely selection.

Accessibility: this store seems very accessible for wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
