Beautiful shop! Great selection of yarn, patterns, needles and notions and very helpful and enthusiastic. They have classes.
Sit and Stitch evening every Wednesday, drop-in between 5-8:00 pm.

Beginning in February 2008, the shop is now closing Wednesdays
at 5:30 pm, except on the first and third Wednesday of every month when the shop will be open until 8:00 pm.
The Sit and Stitch is also now scheduled 5:00-8:00 pm
for every first and third Wednesday of the month.

Beautiful yarn boutique. Lovely atmosphere. Great selection of colours. New arrivals all the time. Handmaiden and Fleece Artist are always in stock, my two favorite yarns!

I stopped in this little corner shop and was pleasantly surprised . Friendly staff , great selection with some choice hand-dyed yarns and a posted knit night . What more could a girl want .
Surprised to see the " it sucks " comment . Notice there are no specifics ... At any rate I loved it !!!

Lovely selection of yarns and patterns. The staff are friendly and helpful. I am so happy that this area has such a nice yarn shop.

I had the chance to visit this shop while on vacation. I thought the shop had a great selection of yarn--a little bit of anything you could want! It was close to closing time, but the owner took some time to chat with us and was very helpful and friendly.

As a new knitter I was welcomed to Wednesday night and told no problem if I needed help (I now work Wednesday nights - boo!) Love the selection and love the staff. Once while shopping, I accidentally stayed after their official closing time and they never once rushed me - I didn't know that they'd even closed! My favourite yarn store in the Lower Mainland.

Very helpful (and welcomed to Wednesday sit n' stitch) and even though I'm a new knitter, was told they'd happily help if needed assistance. Have shopped here several times and once I didn't realized they'd closed but the staff was very gracious and I was not rushed. Always told to come back with my project if I run into trouble. My favourite yarn store in the Lower Mainland.

Good selection of yarn. Received a discount as I was knitting for a charity. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend as the best knitting store around!!

This place is a gem! I go there whenever I am in town, and the staff is always very knowledgeable and very friendly. They have a very nice knit night as well, that I have dropped into when I am in town for it. Very nice group of people - keep up the good work!

Love the staff, and the crazy amount of Malabrigo they have. Great place to shop!

Friendliest staff. Smallish, well stocked store. I also love the Handmaiden/Fleece artist yarns. perhaps the annonymous poster that thinks "it sucks" meant that they forgot what they went into the store for when they became overwhelmed at the selection and great staff!

Pretty much what everyone's already said...they have everything from silk to acrylic (really nice acrylic, too...I'm a self-admitted fiber snob, and I was seriously considering it...) There's a little spot on the windowsill with some pretty yarn where you can "test-drive" the really beautiful needles they have...mom was with me, and I used it to teach her how to purl. Good memories of the nice little mother-daughter bonding moment right there ;)
Staff is great. No problems with fetching the 'yarn grabber' if you want to see something high-up, with the added bonus of being familiar with 'blogs'.

There have not been any new reviews in over 2 years, and I fear alot may have changed...I have heard consistently around our area that the atmosphere was not that friendly and was unwelcoming of children. I chanced it, because the store is handy. When we visited with my two knitting boys we weren't greeted, approached, encouraged, complimented, or offered help, and were made to feel llike we were taking up someone's time each time we asked for suggestions for my boys to select yarn or obtain a little help to work through a knitting challenge.
I am very new to knitting and I imagined that the staff might see a family of knitters (all three of us) and think, "wow, here are three new paying customers!" and offer service to guarantee our loyalty. Instead, I won't be back based on three subsequent visits like the first.

Nope, nothing has changed in the last two years. In fact, 88 Stitches is one of the least pretentious and most welcoming shops in the Lower Mainland. I have put up with some pretty snooty and sometimes bizarre behaviour from other shops locally, but have never had a bad experience at 88 Stitches. I am willing to forgo visiting the two shops that are far more local to me to make the trip out to 88 Stitches just because of the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. I find their yarn and pattern selection has only gotten better, and I (and my two young children) are always welcomed. I have never been made to feel like I was in their way or taking up their personal time, but then, I don't like being hovered over when I shop (this is true in any store, not just a yarn shop) and I don't expect others to parent my children when I'm shopping with them. I am always greeted cheerfully, asked if I need help, and have always had my questions answered. Keep up the great work, 88 Stitches.
