Oops!

It looks like the Update Location feature was offline last night, but it's working now! I think I caught the few updates that were left in comments, but if I missed one, let me know.

Twitter and a New Feature!

Store owners, this new feature is for you! You can now sign up to manage your own location on Knitmap! This means that you'll be able to directly update your store's features, address, hours, and notes as often as you'd like. Use the notes section to post about upcoming sales, classes, or new inventory. You'll also receive notification whenever a comment is left for your store.

To register to manage your location, click the new 'Manage Location' box (above the map) on your store's detail page, and follow the instructions to receive your confirmation code via text message. Don't worry if your carrier isn't listed (we're working on adding more all the time), just send us an email with your name, Knitmap user name, store name, city/state, and a phone number (for verification purposes) and we'll email you a confirmation code. As always, all of your personal information provided to Knitmap will remain confidential.

Once you've signed up to manage your listing, you'll see that we've made a badge that you can place on your website. It will direct your web visitors directly to your listing at Knitmap!

Try it out, and let me know what you think!

Knitmap is now on Twitter. We'll be tweeting with new features like this one, new stores, and other events that you won't want to miss! Follow Knitmap here.

Notice Anything Different?

Our trusty Knitmap programmer, Matt, has been working really hard lately to complete overhaul the site. While you may not see many changes apart from the minor design changes, and a few tweaks here and there, I have so much more control over the back end of things! This means a cleaner database, better maps, faster response times, and the groundwork for some new very exciting features that will be rolled out soon.

We also cleaned up a few of those tedious housekeeping things like starting an FAQ, putting our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use agreements into writing. Check them out and if you have any questions about them, feel free to contact us!

We've checked and double checked that everything is up and working, but there's always something funny that sneaks past. If you find something that isn't right, please let us know.

So, what do you think? Pretty snazzy yeah?

Knitmap in Knitscene

I just got a heads up that Knitmap is mentioned in the upcoming Winter/Spring 2009 issue of Knitscene magazine. Go check it out!

ETA: We're mentioned on page 5, number 4 in the Check It product reviews.

Did you see it?

Big thanks to Craft Magazine for the link to Knitmap on their blog this week, and thanks to Vogue Knitting for the the mention in their Yarn Market News: End of Summer Update newsletter! Craft Mag: Knitmap
